Hi Guys,

I really enjoy the podcasts, the only thing that I have trouble with is that not all of the links (particularly the ones for the blogs of the people on the podcasts on the right of the screen) are not target=blank, so often while I'm listening to the pod cast, and I click on one of the links, the browser navigates to the new page which stops the pod cast playing, and then I have to go back and try to find where I was in the cast.

Thanks and Keep up the good work.
Rick

Wayne,

There is a specific development methodology called TDD that deals with the particular case of driving the design of your code by writing unit tests first, one at a time, then writing code that will make the test pass. If you aren't already familiar with it, I'd suggest looking into it and trying it out on your own code.

Here are a few links to get started.

@Charlie - Yes, audio was rough on this one. I think Daniel's network connection was poor when we were recording, which causes the audio quality to suffer. I can clean up a lot in the editing phase, but I can't compensate for that.

I agree that DNR sets the standard for audio quality. Of course, they have sponsors and a budget which helps in terms of both their recording gear and ability to focus on scheduling guests. I think you'll find that our audio quality is generally a lot better than it was on this show, though.

I particularly enjoyed your discussion about unit testing and TTD. An interesting insight I hadn't thought of before was where one of you (sorry, I don't know the voices yet :( ) mentioned a positive side effect of unit testing being that when you write code with unit testing in mind, i.e. planning to write tests for it, you often end up with a better piece of code.

Admittedly I'm not a huge unit tester in my personal projects (usually quite small anyway) but that side effect will make me think again in future. I'm really surprised that it isn't brought up more often in discussion of unit testing.

Herding Code for Dummies: I'd vote for Herding Code to become more noob-friendly. I've traditionally worked on very plain code, but I'm trying to step up my game now, so I listen to podcasts like this one. Any chance of defining terms a little better during the podcast? IoC, MEF, proprietary names, action filters, etc....a bit more background. It would improve the educational factor. Anyway, just a request. Thanks for the podcast.
